About A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010
Film remakes are really hit and miss, and they are becoming more and more common all the time. You see, whether it is going to be a statement of running out of quality ideas for new films or the idea that these older classics need to have a fresh spin with the new technology, the amount of remakes is on the rise. One of the recent editions to this every expanding list is A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010.
You should understand first that there are no numbers of the year in the title, however this is often put at the end so that it can be distinguished from the film of 1984. The film opens on a diner in Springwood. It isn’t long until you get your first look at Freddy Krueger and what he can do in this film. You also get your first stint of paranoia as Dean, the man encountering Freddy at that time has a chance to explain everything to his girlfriend, Kris. He tells her that someone in his dreams is trying to kill him and she watches him die right before her eyes.
The next thing you know, panic has set in amongst the group that you meet. Some of them are skeptical about Dean’s story, others believe it completely. One thing is consistent, though. They all have dreams about a man with knives for fingers and a burned face. He is trying to kill them in their dreams. Some understand it: if you die in your dreams, you die for real.
Now the body count is rising and more and more about Krueger is coming to light. While their dreams were terrifying, they managed to give each of them pieces of the puzzle towards stopping Freddy. Nancy learns that she can pull things out of her dreams, and this spawns a showdown with the madman back where her nightmare began as a small child.
The re-imagining had some familiar scenes, which made it parallel the original very nicely. It was much better in terms of computer generated effects, unlike what could have been produced back in 1984. Jackie Earle Haley, who has been featured in many films including the popular comic inspired film “The Watchmen” portrays the wicked Freddy Krueger, and giving the character a new spin and a terrifying new face in the process.
Learning about A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 is not difficult, and if you are a horror fan you should certainly check it out. While there might be more to consider than what is listed here, this should give you a little more insight into one of the best horror remakes in quite some time.
