Make Business Coaching Work for You

Know WHY you want Business Coaching.

Pick the right coaching resource.

There are many reasons people seek out a business coach. They may actually be best served by a consultant, trainer, therapist or counselor. Ensuring you have the right type of coach will make the coaching sessions far more successful.

Do you have a goal? If you do have a goal, whether it’s a successful presentation at a conference, meeting sales targets, or even a soft target such as becoming a better leader, find a business coach who will keep you focused on your target. There may be problems and issues addressed in the process, but everything will be goal oriented.

Got a problem? However, if for example, your end point is to resolve a personal issue then you may be better off turning to a therapist or counselor. Indeed if your problem is as serious as say, depression then a coach should in fact refer you to therapy. After the issue is resolved you can then hire a business coach to set some goals you can work towards.

Want advice? Perhaps your issue or problem is a business one that you want advice on, in which case you would be wise to choose a consultant or even a guru with expertise in this business area. You may well choose a coach to help you clarify your business goals and then develop your performance to achieve them but, unlike a consultancy conversation which will be about the business, your coaching conversations will be about you, albeit in the context of the business but still focused on you and your performance.

Whilst thinking about gurus or expert advisors, an interesting (almost perverse) reason I have encountered for requesting business coaching is to be in control. On a few occasions I have been invited to have a coaching conversation only to realize the client doesn’t want to take responsibility for the agenda and wants to solicit advice – only to be able to argue and reject that advice! If you suspect your motive is something similar, perhaps to ‘have some ideas to push against’, then my recommendation is still to hire a guru or expert advisor as they are more likely to regard their job as done once the advice is given regardless of whether you take it or not.

Uncertain about what you want? Many clients don’t have a personal issue, a business problem, or a desire to learn anything from me. They know something needs direction, but don’t know what! Does that sound familiar? Nearly all of us sometimes have the feeling that something is wrong, but we’re not sure just what that is. This may be due to the theory that we are geared to survive. It is a basic instinct to get away from danger. This overrides the desire to plan and move ahead. If the house is on fire it’s best to get out, not think through the where the best place to be after running would be! Taking time when the day-to-day “fires” can be set aside, in the coaching environment with a coach who can help guide the evaluation and thinking process, can help clarify things. Business coaching, being about you, helps guide you in your thought process to clarify your goals and help you be at your best to accomplish them.

Radio Publicity Takes One Of The First Steps When Releasing Your First Novel

Once you have your novel published and out in book stores, now you have to have event planners to plan your radio publicity because this is one of the best promoting tools out there. You would have to take this in consideration when paying for your book to be published before you have released it in book stores all over the country.

Once you have your first book in stores is the easy part but now you have to think of ways to promote your book all by yourself. This is where the hard part comes in and you could be thinking how much you could really use an agent or an event planner right about now to help you through this. All you have to do would be to research online and see if you can find what you would be looking for.

Some people are not able to afford event planners and some publishing companies realize that. When you’re searching for a publishing company, see if you can find any that would be at no cost to you but would request a percentage out of all the money you make. This would be an okay deal to look for because they have to make their money somehow.

You may have just listed yourself with the country’s most popular radio station. If that’s the case, then your book sales will not only sky rocket but they may go so high that you will finally have the financial freedom you have been hoping for and you may be able to get your kids and your husband anything they have wanted for the longest time but was not able to afford it. You might even make enough so your husband can quit his job and you will be able to stay at home and write your second book while money is still coming in.

It helps having a husband or a boyfriend that’s so supportive of your career while you go on these tours. Of course you will be missed but you have to do what you have to do to keep making sales. It’s also nice to have some company because your event planner may be going with you to all of these places and you may be getting a feel of how stressful and exciting your new life can be.

You may be on a radio show where you will have people calling in from home or from their office and asking questions about your book. This would put a smile on your face because you know that when people call in, this means they’re interested and would like to know more about. This may have been something you were nervous about just because you might have been afraid that no one would buy it.

Fame is what comes with your radio publicity deal because so many people already know who you are. You may think that you will be waking up any second now from the best dream that you have ever have. The only thing is is that this is not a dream but you’re living it in reality.

Tips on designing your own website

Almost everyone, at some time during their journey to become the next Internet millionaire, has designed (or redesigned) their own website. Some have had shining success, others, miserable failure. In case you are wondering, the latter is much more common.

This is because a true web designer often has a formal education and has spent years honing their skills to learn the best approach. You see, there is so much more to designing a website than just looks. You have to think about details like usability, conversions and SEO, to name just a few.

While professionals like Wildfire Marketing Group can certainly design a powerful and effective website, your goal is to design your own website, either because you’re on a budget, or you’re a budding web designer. In either case, be prepared for lots of learning and hard work. A web design checklist can help to make sure you cover all your bases-as long as you follow it!

Here are some of the basics.

1. Appearance

I hate to sound shallow, but looks matter. Over 83% of your potential clients will visit your website before choosing to do business with you, and their impression of your company will be formed in just a few seconds. If you can’t impress them quickly, you’ll probably lose them. If you’re not a “natural” artist, don’t spend a lot of time on this since your goal is to make money with your website. Instead, invest in a quality template and modify it to meet your needs.

2. Speed

People are busy, and when they visit your website, they expect it to download quickly. So don’t fill it up with tons of over-sized graphics, scripts and poorly written code. And no matter what, skip the music or those annoying intro videos. No one cares about them, and most people will either hit the mute button, or even worse, the back button. The faster your pages load, the better.

3. Usability

Flash can be great for some things, but never design your entire site, or your navigation with it. If someone doesn’t happen to have it installed (anyone on a smart phone, for example) they are unable to access your website. Plus, the search engines really can’t crawl or index your content within a flash site anyway. The bottom line is to make sure your site doesn’t rely on anything that your visitors may not have installed.

4. Call to action

Not having a call to action is like spending the entire night taking to a pretty woman, but not asking for her phone number. You’ve put a lot of work into designing your website, and probably even more work into driving traffic to it. Do you really want to just hope that your visitors are so excited that they spend the time to figure out what you want them to do, and then do it? They won’t. So you need to make it clear and simple – if you want them to buy something, your headlines and buttons should clearly tell them that. The same applies signing up for your newsletter or RSS feed or whatever action you want them to take.

When you need website design that produces results, Wildfire Marketing Group can help you get the success you deserve.
