Beautiful Hair Accessories
A dress can usually speak for itself but the hair is easily one of the most accessorised parts of the body and has been instrumental in making many looks either complete or taking them to the next level. 2011 has arrived and a new season of new hairstyles and accessories is upon the fashion world. The Spring/Summer shows have been and gone, leaving us with an impression of how the year’s fashion will develop.
Gold hair accessories are currently a hot favourite, with favourable showings with stars Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba for the MET Ball in which the versatile precious metal has been cutting a dash and looks all set to be a year-round fashion mainstay. In terms of styling, gold lends itself incredibly well to creating an exotic look, or for the empress look that Isabele Lucas was able to pull off at the same occasion as Alba and Hudson.
Hats are finally back in force, and have been playing a tricky game with the fashion world for years but seem to be strong for 2011. The Kate effect has resonated within the Royal Ascot with the fascinator, and has seemingly spread into the fashion world. Victoria Beckham tried to popularise the hat a few years ago with a black design, but was unsuccessful. It seems that the world is finally ready now, though, for an abstract hat.
It’s not all about hats for headgear, though, as the Dolce & Gabana fashion show proved when they rode the wave of contemporary fashion to show the stylish yet amazingly practical Kaftan bandanna. The headscarf can be used to create many styles, including plaiting within the hair to create striking patterns of colours using the hair colour. It harks back to the free-spirited late 70′s and 80′s, and also catches some cool factor for the retro element.
It’s the weddings that will be influencing some of the head accessory market as celebs decide what to wear to the occasion and fans watch them hawkishly to see who will be turning out in what. Tips say that feminine accessories will be all the rage, such as design-bows and diamonds.
Past the summer and into the latter half of the year, Fascinators will be hitting mainstream markets proper with the Jessica McClintock merger with Magid Handbags and Accessories looking like a sign of things to come as the hat comes into its own.
So this year seems to be a surprise return of classical femininity with the detail-bow, headscarf, and diamonds becoming the trends of the year. The Fascinator adds a needed abstract element to the styles of 2011, and gold will be the utilitarian metal of choice for going through summer and autumn without ditching styles or colours just to keep in line with changing jewellery trends. On the flip side, hair sculpting has become semi-popular, perhaps because of Lady Gaga, and may be the echoes of what’s to come for 2012.
The year will be an interesting one indeed judging from what’s been seen so far, with many influences such as the Kate Effect and the Kardashian wedding to keep an eye on as far as second-guessing the direction of fashion. Femininity seems to be a strong card being played with hair accessories at the moment but it may well be that the Kaftan bandanna with its incredible versatility that reigns supreme by the end of the year.
