More Growth, Increased Profits and Blue Skies Ahead for Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines, which Europe’s 4th largest airline, has been moving very quickly towards becoming a leader of the airline industry. Turkish Airlines has destination all over the world in places like Asia, Europe, North America, South America and is going to various locations in Africa. This has been in the flying business for almost 80 years. Its history has plenty of highs and lows. However, the thing of importance for all businesses, and maybe an airline even more so, is that they are still kicking and are even more stronger today than at their start.
The airline also battled some several negative press after seven accidents from 1974 to 1983, along with several other serious events reported. But Turkish Airlines turned their fortunes around in the late 80s, as the government took a stand to influence their future. In fact, the turn of the century saw a rise in fortunes for Turkish Airlines that heralded a decade of blue sky flying.
Turkish Airlines signed a curious marketing partnership with Caroline Wozniacki, the world’s number one women’s tennis player in late 2010.
This indicated a strong international branding effort by the airline’s marketing team. The plan is to have Miss Wozniacki representing the airline’s Business Class Service. The targeted audience for this representation is intended to be European tennis fans who will immediately recognize and relate to the women’s number one ranked tennis player. She will be appearing in various commercials and public relations events for the airline throughout her three year contract.
Turkish Airlines has implemented a new form of traveling referred to as Comfort Class. This is a style of travel that is only available on the airline’s fleet of Boeing 777s. This represents a new level of comfort in flying with seats that are just barely under 46 inches. So that is nearly four feet of seat available for yourself and anything else you care to have with you on your seat. It is important to note that Boeing 777 airplanes are large aircraft and are suited to long flights. Miles earned in the Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles card can be redeemed for a ticket in Comfort Class or an upgrade to this class.
This also means that any miles earned will apply to family members too. Earning more miles is as easy as using the Miles & Smiles credit card to pay for purchases, or booking flights from airlines within the Star Alliance partnership.
The vast majority of businesses use this principle to advantage. And yet, far too many businesses overlook the importance of emulating Turkish Airlines’ example of reinvesting in their own future success. So not only does it make the airline stronger, but it allows for passengers to benefit as well.
